Chicken Parmesan from Mario Batali's Otto Resturant

So I don't normally post about food..but my life is rather lifeless with all this work and well, everyone needs food! Most people know if I had time I would totally create a recipe blog and everyone could share and get ideas for good meals, etc. But since that won't happen this year I will just share a success. I get this magazine called Bon Appetit- which I love! It has the greatest recipies that are mostly within my skill level- This magazine has inspired me to make homemade marshmellows, souffles, and now,(..drum roll..) gourmet chicken parmesan!! Cody laughed when I went to the store to buy $15 worth of fresh specialty cheeses, I was just glad I found them all in 1 stop. It was so amazing that I even took a picture! There are 3 different cheeses and a homemade sauce surrounding this breaded chicken that made the most perfect combination! YUM!

A little bit country, a little bit rock n' roll

Last weekend my parents took us to the Osmonds Pioneer day concert with the Mo-Tab choir (and our favorite singer in the front row- third from the left!). It was really good and my parents loved it! I got to see Donny, my mom's first love, and of course Marie! It was fun to recognize most of the songs they sing although we are a generation behind :o)

Harley Davidson grand opening

My parents come to visit this weekend, they had a lot to do while they were here. We hit the cheesecake factory, the Nordys sale, the harley opening and the osmonds concert!
My Dad and Cody both were goo-goo over the harleys- they had a big ride planned around the alpine loop, so there were a TON of Harleys there! I bet you can guess what Cody has got his eye on now- the only problem is I don 't want to ride on the back, I want my own, so he would have to come up with enough money for 2! Fat chance! The building is pretty awesome though- made from Geneva Steel bldg rubble.

The Lush Foliage

This week has been pretty busy for us- Tonight I went to check my garden and was surprised to see how fast it has grown! This is my 2nd year doing Square Foot Gardening and I love it!! I am still working on my photography skills-
Lettuce, Peppers, Onions and Corn

I love the flowers in the front flower bed, they didn't bloom at all last year!

Family Reunion

We missed going to Snowflake for the 24th this year. Cody's family got together earlier in July. And since we missed seeing our friends in AZ we thought we would share some of his family's pics! Hope everyone had fun at the run/parade in Snowflake!!

And some more informal ones-

Life's a Beach!

We just got back from the ocean. The condos at Seaside are awesome and my dad was so happy to find out they had Bikefest there this week too! My parents went on a Harley trip and my Dad brough his harley to the ocean. I had so much fun riding around with him. We rode to Cannon Beach to see Haystack rock- Cody had heard me talk about it so much so it was fun to take him there. Also, there are lots of shops right underneath the condos, fun fun! The condos are right on the beach and we spent a lot of time out there. This is our sandcastle- actually the 2nd one. We didn't get a picture of the first one- it was a Beaut! Cody and my dad built a pyramid and it was perfect! We went to work building a castle and made sure we got pics of this one. As I was working on the end tower I realized it looked like the RLDS temple! (Look at my 1st Nauvoo post if you are unfamiliar) We made a moat and a bridge even! This is what you do at the ocean when it is too cold to swim!

HUG Point

The West Coast is beautiful, this is one of the prettiest places- big cliffs and waterfalls- a perfect place to stop and HUG!!! Here is my fam- (we missed Jordan)Lots of love!

The weather is always questionable (obviously we are alittle cold here) but it warmed up perfectly yesterday and we actually went swimming in the ocean! It was freezing!

Tillamook Cheese Factory

So we ran away this weekend to Seaside, a little town on the OR coast. We had a great time! It was fun to see my family again and be able to swim and play with the kids for a day. We traveled to Tillamook, OR and visited the factory where they make cheese! They had samples, demo's and videos about cheese. They also make ice cream, we don't get it in UT so we had a whole lot during our trip here- If you haven't had huckleberry ice cream and you ever get the chance try it! I have been trying this new program so I hope you can see the pics! Click on it and it will enlarge for ya!

More Silver Lake Pics

SO pretty up there! We ate our lunch by the water and Buster played in the water. It was so clear and pretty! This was one of the best hikes I have been on in UT. It is crazy when you get out there to realize what you have been missing out on!

I started my rotation on Monday at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital and it is a great place to be. They serve a free breakfast, free drinks and a pretty decent lunch. A drug rep brought us P.F. Changs for lunch and it was yummy. I am tracking antibiotic usage and I have already gotten to see some pretty gross stuff :o) 1 week down, 35 more to go! Have a good weekend everyone!

Silver Lake

Cody and I decided to get up early Sat and go on a hike- we picked a great one! Silver Flats Lake in AF canyon is one of the most beautiful sights to behold- then you can hike up to Silver Lake and it is every prettier! It was my last weekend before my rotations started and well, I needed a good hike! Buster loved all the water and made friends with everyone on the trail.

We had so much fun floating the river on Fri we decided to try it once more on Saturday! It was a lot wilder of a river and there were many crashes in our group alone. But it cooled us off and made for a good Saturday!

Happy 4th of July!!!

We don't have any big plans this weekend so we decided to celebrate our Freedom by going to the Provo Parade and floating the river. Cody's brothers made good company for the day- They loved all the planes that flew over the parade! Buster got to come to and everyone would stop to see the dog (and if they didn't he would stop them!)
Buster wore a cute "neckercheif" and we dubbed him Freedom Doggie!
The K brothers
My doggie and me!
We float the Provo river every year and today was the most busy we have ever seen it! It was still really funny and we all got in a good laugh as we would hit the rapids, rocks and trees 1 at a time! Luckily Mckenzie came to play with me so I had a gal pal.
The boyz have these trucks they are all pretty proud of! They got 'em all lined up so I could take a pic! They are sticking their heads out the window if you look close! The mtns up Provo Canyon are green and pretty and make a good background.
